Purchasing a 4500 or 5500 dodge. Seen many 4500 with the 4.55 ratio rear end and most 5500 with the 4.88. Will be pulling a 40ft PJ flatbed with an average of 11,000 lb loads. Any info on current fuel mileage with these series trucks would be appreciated. Aisen transmission is my choice. I know all info will be not exactly the same situation but appreciated greatly. Do and do nots are welcome. Would like to get the combination right the first time, thanks for your input

If you are only going to be putting 11,000 on the trailer why not save some money and go with a 3500. 3500 is more than capable with 3.73 gears of pulling that load. As far as the 4500 and 5500 are concerned I am no help. I have no experience with them.

Heck you can pull 11k with a 2500/3500 and 3.42, they are rated (depending on options to 17k tow and 25k gcvwr) and that's with the 68re. The Aisin bumps that number up a good bit. On these newer trucks with all the low end power I would save some money at the pump and go for the lower rear. I'm a guy that used to think the opposite and had 4.10 or 3.73. Not needed with the 6.7
