Motor Problem

I found a truck on one of the insurance auction websites. They said the truck has a bad motor. They have one picture of the motor. I can't really see anything but I wonder if anyone else could. I really appreciate any guidance.

Ok bud, sorry I didnt answer the PM, im just now getting back to my computer after a long few days.

Personally, if the truck is cheap enough to justify a rebuild on the engine Id go for it. Because there is no way Id run that engine without pulling it and doing a full rebuild on it.

It looks like its been sitting quite a while without the head for sure. Cant tell much else from the single pic.

You could always get a rebuilt Cummins and drop it in, and sell the block to recoup some of the cost, if it is even sellable.

Id say, pending on how much labor you would do yourself, that it could be rebuilt for around 4-6 grand, using stock replacement parts. Any aftermarket or upgrades and it will skyrocket.

If I assume $10,000 then I would be safe.

Id definitely say so.

10k would be my budget on a perfomance build. Block, head, Carillos, studs, Hamilton Cam, pushrods etc....

Well maybe just a tad over 10k, but if that block is still good, Id bet dollars to donuts you could do it for well under 5k.
