XRF ball joint install!

I have a set of XRF ball joints (uppers and lowers) coming. I read on another forum that they are really tight going into the knuckle. Has anyone hear had that problem? Thanks!!

A few guys have said the joints are very tight, and I remember reading that after using XRF joints, other joints fit too loose in the knuckles. Do a search the thread might pop up with that info in it.

Mine were near impossibly tight. I measured about .017" interference over the knurl. I chucked them up in a lathe and turned them down to .004" and they were still plenty tight.

Why would they make them so tight? .017" interference would be impossible to install! Even at .004" would be very tight!

The ball joint had a heavy knurl on it and the o.d. of that knurl was what I measured. I guess the theory is, the knurl will bite into the bore on the knuckle during the press. I did the freezer, and antiseize trick too. It was a chore!
