Weird Player in Amarillo

I had a rodeo in Perryton, Texas driving from Big Spring, Tx. It is 230 miles to Amarillo and another 100 on the other side. As my coach put it "Perryton is just this side of the Alberta border." Then add high wind to make the trip more pleasant. The wind was blowing hard enough (luckly it was blowing with me) I got 15.2 miles to the gallon with a trailer and load I usually get 12 mpg with. That's while driving at night, since the winds would only be half of what they were during the day time. Day time winds of 40+ constant with gusts of 60mph. Then while I'm in Perryton I call home and it was in the 80 degree range, I was watching flurries between me and the flagger. I didn't stay very long in Perryton.
Now onto why I am righting this. On my way through Amarillo, going out of town on HWY 60 there is an overpass and railroad tracks passing across 60, comming from some facility on the southside. Before I get to the tracks my CD player blanks out. It just quit like I had hit eject and it would not come out. I press the button to go to the next song and it comes back and on the other side of the tracks it does it again. I thought it was my CD player trying to die on me. It worked alright untill the next night coming back through the other way, before I get to the tracks the CD player does it again. Anybody heard of such a thing? It would come back on when I got a way from the area, but what the ****?

Try driving in this crap every day. Some days the wind almost takes my truck off the road. I get like 9-10mpg against the wind empty. . I'm tired of west texas. No rain, no water, lots of wind, lots of dust, no hills of any kind. Oh well.

EDIT: oh yea, my cd player does that when it gets too hot.

I don't know if there was an airport near by, for all I know I was closer to the nuke plant than an airport.
It may do it from over heating but it was in the same 1/8 mile of a specifice road. It did not do that anyother time.

Sounds to me like a rip in the space/time continuum, or maybe a wormhole in that location.

(Just kidding.... )

Check the grounding on the CD player (or the radio). Possibility that the railroad has some type of train detection system that is interfering with the CD unit.

Hmmmm could go to Roswell and Never Land. There is no such thing as an research and airbase in Nevada called "Area 51"; if you ask the government anyway.

I agree 100% on that! I lived just outside of Canyon (south of Amarillo) for a year. Nice house, 3700 square feet, 6.5 acres, but HIGH property taxes, the wind blows all the time. Can't keep the grass green. Dust? THis house had big in ground swimming pool. I could have cleaned it every four hours to keep the dirt out. Hopeless. After a year there, we gave up and moved to middle Tennesse where it's actually green, not brown. The wind does blow fiercely occasionally as in the tornadoes we've had this year. But we love it here. But, the cd player in my '04 quit working. The total radio in my wife's '03 quit. Just lousy radios, I guess.
