That's how I found the tear in mine.

Never heard about the TSB before I heard the seal squeaking when I opened and closed the door when it was wet from the rain.

When I found the squeak I found the tear.

Then I posted here about it and was told about the TSB.

Great site!

Are you new seals the ones with the "dips" in them where the rub-zone is?

I don't think the 03's had the problem. Most are on the 04 up.A guy at work has a 2500 that has a 1000 miles on it and last week when I checked they were both tore up!My 03 does not rub but it has a bunch of wind noise. There is a differance between his 04 and my 03 weatherstrips

Ouch!

They gave me the new seals but also had to realign the doors to keep them from rubbing.

Now there's no rub and no leaks.

So far so good.

I noticed a squeak when the door is opened and closed and the outer seal on the w/s is tearing just like shown earlier in the thread here. Mine's an 05 built in Sept 04. Not worried about it, they'll fix it- they have 97,000 miles to get it right. Funny that something so obvious can get through production though.

Mine had the problem too. The Dodge Dealer ordered the new weatherstrips for me, but never called me back. When I went in for oil change service, I mentioned it to them and they had the new style strips in and replaced them and adjusted my driver side door. The pass. door didn't need adjusting. So far seems to be working great with the new strips. The area from the point of the angle up about 6 or 8 inches where the corner of the door used to rub, is "flatter".

I had my weatherstripping replaced 12/28. Mine had a hole the size of a quarter worn through it. Good as new now.

How about a small peace of black duct tape folded over the worn spot? That may a good fix since it will not snag on the door and just slide over the contact area...

Weatherstrip

Well, mine were replaced by the dealer. I think the doors, both drv & pass, sound a little louder now when closing. More "metal" sounding. And of course, some uneducated passengers just HAVE to slam it closed . . cause it's a truck right??

During last years winter snow storm, I opened up my rear driver side door, and the lower bottom stripping was frozen to the truck and ripped off. Dealer just replaced it for free.
