One problem with that theory.... No one will buy the fuel at those prices. They'll car pull, move closer to work, work flextime, or get into smaller vehicles.

No buyers = lower prices.

I'm just wondering where we'll hit the tipping point. At $3 I complained and at $4.50 I just had to cut back.... Just isn't worth it to me, I'd rather spend the money on other things.

At $3 I also complained, at $4 I sold my gasser and am looking for a diesel so I can pay $4.69 but get better fuel economy. At $6 I'll start robbing fuel trucks or making biodiesel.

Today local chevron #2 = $ 5.49 gal

looks like certain parts of the country by middle of summer prices will hit + $ 6.00 gallon #2

it's nuts ....... some of the busiest freeways in the country are around the los angeles area & suddenly there is a noticeable decrease in traffic

imagine that........

sold my M3 & x5 4.4 bmw's bought VW GTI 4cyl turbo for everyday driving & occasionally substitute the yamaha FZ1 instead of driving the car

mean time I love my truck too much to part with it , just drive it less often it used to be everyday driver just not any more !

back on thread : IMO the longer you wait to buy the better the deals are going get !

now if your trying to sell start now it will most likely take a while to sell unless you low ball price it , go low enough on price & it will sell quicker.

good luck on buying or selling

I'm from Houston and only 26 years old but remember it well from the 80's when the bottom dropped out of the market because of price inflation.

Simpily the only people that will buy diesel at $6 a gallon will be people that have to or the wealthy.

No buyers will drop the price down to an equilibrium of some sort.... Which might be $3-4 a gallon or something, who knows.

If you can afford to drive one, now is the best time in the history of motor vehicles, to by a diesel truck or large SUV.
I feel your pain. I've had one buyer in 9 mos. on the truck in my sig.,and his bank would not finance the truck.now the wholesale buyers won't even make an offer. Can't sell it and can't drive it and still making paymentsThe annual cost to drive this truck 20k miles= 6K fuel,1.5K insurance,7k. truck payments ,depreciation,5k.,repairs?? So figure 1.00 per mile to operate a dually diesel. I can understand why no one is interested in buying.,but looking long term the truck payments and depreciation will end and i'll still have a nice truck to look at,unless diesel gets back to 2.00 per gallon ??

Well, on the brighter side, I wonder what kind of incentives Dodge might have to offer to keep moving new trucks...

If they decided to cover diesel vehicles with the lifetime warranty, plus the $3/gal for three years (or cash back, I guess), and maybe a price reduction...

Sorry, I guess the way I posted that came out wrong.

I know they offer the $3/gallon thing on diesels, but I think they would have to offer the lifetime warranty too, in order to get me interested...

my mistake ........I should have READ your post instead of just a quick glance

lifetime warranty is nice if you can live with driving a stock truck !

not nearly as much fun as 700-800 hp & $ 3.00 gal #2 LOL.......

Yeah, I'm kind of a wimp in that I couldn't afford to replace a long block on my nickle, so I tend to keep things stock...

Maybe some other incentive would work, say a free Geo Metro with every new truck purchase.
