Trailer Wiring issue

So, I have appearently been struck with the TIPM failing and I only have about 3v to the passenger trailer light. I did have my computer checked and reflashed to the new program, per the TSB. Still no dice. The 4 way plug was horribly corroded and removed as dodge thought it could be causing a short. No dice. Two days ago, I started having the random trouble of the multi switch and my turn signals.

Is there any correlation in this? Could this at all cause the problem? I am not beliving it to be, but hoping there is a slim chance.

Also, can anyone tell me the color wire in the left rear bulb to tap for a power to run my own relay, as well as the color wire I must tap into in the 7 way plug? I have a feeling a fused relay is my only option.

Thanks guys.
Peter

Any body know which wire I'm going to have to tap in the passenger side tail light to run my own relay?

You can look at the dodge body bulders guide for complete wiring diagrams but here's the rear lighting colors

Left Turn Lamp = White/Dark Green
Left Tail Lamp = White/Yellow
Left Stop Lamp = White/Tan

Right Turn Lamp = White/Yellow
Right Tail Lamp = White/Gray
Right Stop Lamp = White/Tan

You could run the Modulite (relays) from the 7-way power feed if you wanted to. It's fed by a 30 amp fuse in the TIPM.

Do a search on the multi-function switch there has been many problems with them, the same holds true for the TIPM in the 06.. the multi-function switch is less than $100 and is not to hard to change out

Have you towed any trailers with bad wiring?? Are you getting the lamp-out indicator?

Thanks David. Which wire is the one I tap then on the 7 way plug on the truck? What do I gain by running the Modulite? I just read about it on Drawtite's webpage and don't see what I gain over using a standard 20a relay?

Co- I towed my jeep to my builder a few hours away. I had no indicators trip. When all is connected there is a faint activation of the light. If you block all the outside daylight and look closely, you can see the LEDs very very dimly lit (turn signal). Im sure the same when the brakes are applied. All the runing lights are just fine. I used my multi volt gauge, i only show about 3-4 volts at the truck. So far, I had one more problem with the multi switch. I'm aware of the issues with it. I was not sure if it would have any possible relation to my trailer lights.

The modulite protects the LT / RT and Tail circuits. you would have to wire in 3 relays to do the same..

I still think your problem is in the TIPM and or multi-function switch

Here is the link to the bodybuilders guide for wiring info:
