Track Bar Replacement

Any one know of a replacement track bar an upgrade is preferable. The dealer wants 300 so I would rather upgrade it for a comparable or cheaper price with an upgrade or something of equal price.
Does anyone know of any?

Carli Suspension makes an adjustable track bar, but I am not sure what it cost.

I think the Carli track bar is Thurens design. Makes a big difference. Check them out at http://www.thurenfabrication.com/3rdgentrackbar.html

wow, thats a LOT of money for that thing. I would rather sleeve my stock bar, and put some different ends on it for 1/4 as much.

Yes, but how do you sleeve something that has multiple bends and curves?

true, but it looks straight on the ends right? is the stock bar bending/deflecting or are the bushings bad? I need to go look at one to be honest.

Thurens track bar is only $50 more than the OEM and a lot better. It can also be easily rebuilt. The rubber bushings are what goes bad on the stocker. Lazarsmith makes replacement bushings for the stock bar, but its kinda like trying to make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t IMO. If you ever get a suspension lift down the road , Thurens bar is also adjustable to re-center the axle.

Probably going to go with the Thuren.
My stock one is bent, no Lift or bigger tires.

Father put the passenger front tire into 10" x 10" wooden post guard rail. No body damage just the bent tie rod. even the alignment is straight.

Thuren has a very nice bar, especially after it gets powdercoated:

Thats a nice piece, but it would be better if Thuren would of put one more pass on the Hiem joint end, there appears to be a little undercut on that weld. I doubt it would fail, but it would defiently not hurt for one more quick pass with the mig gun

Hey I bought mine from Lorenz for I think $380 and it was Zinc platted so I didn't have to screw with coating or painting it.

If your truck isn't lifted and doesn't have a wobble problem I'd look for a like new used one off a lifted truck. If you are in the Houston area I have one with like 5-6,000 miles on it I'd be willing to sell you.

Check the classifieds up top and see if there is a want to buy area on here and ask.

When you put the new one on I'd also change the nuts/bolts if you actually bent the rod. And make sure to torque it down good and on the tight end of the spectrum.

Just as a note, the trackbar is different from the tie rod.... I'm sure you mistyped that no offence.

One thing I've noticed if the bushings are bad on a track bar is the truck will wonder on the freeway with a weird resistance when you try to correct it and at slow speeds when turning the steering wheel there will be a lag in reaction and it'll feel like the whole body is swaying while the axle wants to track straight.

^^^^ that was a typo. I meant to say track bar.

No problem with it wondering on the highway ... when the road is not rutted out or at least slightly level.

There's a straight section you can cut. I cut mine and sleeved it. Was pretty easy, quick fix, and cheap. Works great. At some point the stock ends will be shot and I'll have to decide between putting Hiem joints on the ends, or buying an aftermarket. I priced the joints, and they aren't cheap....

Uhhh ... whats the point in just sleeving the straight parts? The non sleeved curved parts are then still the week parts.
