Tow Mirror Replacement
Tow Mirror Replacement
I have a new tow mirror that should arrive Monday to replace the one on the drivers side someone broke by pushing it forward. Can someone tell me what all I have to do to replace it? I will assume the drivers side door panel will have to come off to make the swap. Thanks for any help.
Remove the door panel. There are two screws on the bottom of the panel, one on the inside door handle (to remove handles), and one on the upper triangle that sticks up on top of the panel, if memory serves. If you have power windows and power locks, pop the bezel up with a screwdriver, and unplug two connectors. The bezel is held down by friction tabs.
With door panel off, there are three nuts that hold the mirror in place, on the inside of the door. Two are behind the panel you removed, and one is unobstructed as viewed on the forward part of the door when looking in the door jam. If you have powered mirrors, there's a plug that will be obvious when you remove the door panel in the middle of the mirror base.
It is simplistically easy.

You don't have to remove the door panel completely, just loosen enough to pull it away from the area where the mirror attaches. You can wedge something in there to gain access. Someone posted detailed instructions about a year ago. Don't have them handy.
