Tires
I got the Michelin A/T 2 and really like them. I had 62k on the stock Michelins (LTX) . According to the data the A/T 2 have slightly better wear but have a more aggresive tread. So far in snow and ice they blow the stock ones out of the water. I still think these are quieter but enjoying the traction too much to notice. We have been getting snow about every day so it's been a good test for the new tires. I have had them for about 3 weeks now.
I put on toyo open country 265/70/17 load e on 1.7 years ago with 35000 miles on them . much better than the stock michelin in rain/ snow by far. will not last more then 50-60 thousand miles . great road tire about $100 less a set then price of michelin
They should be marked on the side wall what load range they are.
I had Revo's for about 45k and they were great on the highway and on wet pavement. I just put on a set of Michelin AT2's and have about 3k on them. Great all around tire, a little pricey but I think well worth it. Make sure you stay with a load range "E".

It is hard to make a tire choice. Both Firestone and Goodyear have screwed their reputation with bad tires ie. goodyear marathon. You need to know where the tire is made USA,China or other. You need to know something about the rubber compound for long life and traction. What tread design meets you needs. Will the tire hold up when towing. It seems like the more you need to know the the more "BS" you get from the manufactures.
We are all in the same boat. It would be nice if you recommend a tire that you give some infor like were the tire is made, life of the tire, traction, how you use the tires Just something to help see through all the advertising one reads.

I would not recommend the Cooper ATR's I have. Had 2 flats in the last year, pull over right away, both times they told me the sidewalls were shot and I had to but a new one.

I got 85k out of a set of pirelli scorpion atr's but as they were almost down to the wear bars they didn't hold on in the slightest bit of snow (or ice), they are really good tires in my opinion.
I just put on michelin LTX AT-2's quite a bit more $$'s than the scorps, seems the boys in Canada are recommending them in lieu of snows, since they seem to be sold out due to a recent regulation (in Quebec). I haven't had the chance to use them in adverse conditions (yet) but they sure are quiet.
Dueler Revos are very good tires as well.

You can't beat the michelin AT2's for quite, "decent" weather performance, and really good fuel mileage... and they wear great. They're a little more $ out the gate but they'll go 80K easy so I think there's pay-back.
The stock BFG's are also good for the driving criteria you've listed. I got slightly better MPG w/the BFG's. I drive highway 80 through the Sierra's (SF to Tahoe area w/snow and slop) every week, so when the stock BFG's got down to about 2/3 tread (@ 55K) I decided to switch to the AT2. They're better than the BFG's in the snow/ice and dirt, but not the end-all. However, both tires are very quite, get great fuel econ, handle great, and last forever. The BFG's cornered much tighter on turns on my Sierra route. But both are fantastic tires if your driving is primarily highway and occasional light weight type off-road terrain.
06 CTD 4x4, inferno red, basically stock, power everything, GPS, AT2's

The last truck I owned had Michelin LTX M/S. What a great tire that was. Quiet and smooth on the highway, and really chewed up the snow. I drove that truck through some really amazing snow storms, and the tires just bit in and did their job. I replaced the first set at around 50K miles. They still had good tread. But one of them had a hole in it that was too big to repair. So I replaced all 4 with the same thing.
This truck has the stock Michelin AT's with 27K miles on them. The rear tires are getting pretty close to the wear bars. The fronts are slightly better. Makes me wonder if they were rotated regularly. I suspect not. They're fine on the highway. But get some hard packed snow and I have to engage 4wd to get it moving. Not confidence inspiring at all. I'm really not impressed with their performance, and would not buy them again.
Last night I ordered a set of Michelin LTX M/S; 235/80R-17, E1. I ordered them from DiscountTireDirect.com. List price is $219 each. They're on sale, with $70 off a set of 4. Free shipping. No sales tax. I'm having them shipped directly to the Discount Tire store that I normally buy my tires from.
Buying them like this saves me about $200 on the best all around tire available.

Grabber HTS 265/70R/17 E Load Rating
Today, I just replaced my Michelin LTX A/S tires with 67,000 miles, for the General Grabber HTS. The Michelin's performed poorly in wet weather and the Grabbers are excellent wet, dry, snow, & ice.
The GRABBERS appear to be one of the best (least known) all round street performance tires and $60 dollars per tire less than the Michelins.
I do mostly freeway, city, & some dirt roads. I haul my horses around (4 horse trailer), and more than once loaded & unloaded the Michelins got a little squirrely on the wet pavement. The Grabbers are just as quiet if not more than the Michelins.

From what you are saying I would probably go with the stock Michelins, I put over 90K on my last set before going to the Hummer wheels. I ended up giving the Michelins to a friend in a bit of a bind and he is still running them.
Plus you can probably find a set of take offs for a steal!!
