tire shopping help!!!!

Howdy,
i need to get some new tires for my 04.5.

My truck only gets used anymore for offroad for farming and hunting and checking pastures and cows. Or towing heavy for farm (i.e. 25,000 to 40,000 lbs gvw)
I am lookin for some LT285 70 17E rated mud terrain tires. What have ya'll had good luck with? I had a set of firestone destination M/T it stock 265 size and liked theirt performance, but was living on gravel at the time and daily driving it and only got 17k out of them.
i am looking for some feedback on what people have had work for them. Thanks everybody!!

I think people get tired of answering questions that have been asked 100s of times... The search feature is very helpful...

big compromise

These trucks will eat any off road tread tire that is used to tow heavy. So if you want it both ways you will be wearing out a lot of tires.

From all the other tire threads I have read the BFG AT might be the best semi-off-road tire that has soem resemblence of life towing.

The various Nitto Grappler tread patterns are popular with our board members. So are the Toyos and they do make an AT that is pretty decent in the size you need. I have them on mine now but will be going to a Nitto street tread next time as I do not off road.

I did use the search function and did not find the info i was looking for so i posted a thread. I will admit i have a hard time with search functions on many forums, i never seem to know what to enter in to search so it might be my fault.

etn550, yea i agree totally with what you said. I barely put 5000 miles on this truck a year so i hope i would be ok. But ya never know right? haha I only tow heavy 2 to 4 times a year, basically a 24 ft cattle trailer loaded or a 26 ft flat deck trailer with hay or equipment, both trailers being gooseneck.

My tire dealer is looking into getting me firestone destination M/T's in a 285 70 17E. 248 bucks a tire Thats new steel valve stem, mount balance and rotate for the life of tire and road hazard.
