TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module)

I understand that there are various Generations of TIPM's. As an example, Generation 7 TIPM"s are installed on 2010-2012 Dodge Ram 2500's and 3500's. Are all TIPM's subject to failure or just certain Generations ?

What is the first year the TIPM was installed on the Dodge Ram. Is it 2006 ? I've searched this form extensively and have not validated a correct answer probably because some individuals in this forum are using the term TIPM on vehicles that it is not installed on.

The reason why I am resarching this issue is I am contemplating purchasing a 2005-2007 5.9L 2500 or 3500 pickup and want to be well informed and do not want to be bothered with having to get the TIPM flashed when problems arise.

Thx

IIRC 2006 was the first year for the TIPM. Before 2006 it was the PDC with a separate FCM.

MikeyB,

Thanks for clarification as to when Chrysler/Dodge began using the TIPM on the Dodge Ram trucks .
