Thought I broke something?
I washed off my engine this morning with a little simple green and a garden hose. Let it dry off for about an hour before starting. She started up fine but as I was heading down my street I noticed a check gauges lite on and the volt meter was not functioning. I turned around back to my driveway and stopped and restarted it and the volt meter would go to the middle then immediately go back down to nothing although everything else seemed normal. Left town for the day in the car and when I came back and fired her up all is well I guess although I didn't drive down the road or anything.
Did I get a sensor wet that I wasn't supposed to? I tried to put a large freezer bag over the alternator to help keep it dry but I suppose I might of got some water on it. Also, the underhood light was pulsing in and out a bit at times when I was hosing things off. Should I not be washing the engine off anymore? Any ideas on what is happening?

My last truck did the same thing to me. I had problems with bad connections. The conection at the alternator was loose and the battery connection was bad, it was corroded inside the cabe itself. Granted my truck was not new when it happened but I would check your electrical connections.
