Things that make you go Hmmmm...

2004 3500 long box....
What are the plastic plugs in the truck box bed for? There are two plugs over the drivers side frame rail oval holes approx 3/4"x1 1/4". nothing over the passanger side. and then there is the plugs in the front of the truck box...

I did... and there is squat under them... I am trying to figure this out before I cover them up with a spray in bed liner. It really seams silly to me, why ANY manufacturer would make holes in the bed and then plug them with plastic that can be easly ripped out. (assuming a bed liner wouldn't be installed)

You put your fuel lines from the in-bed tank through the holes in the front. Also run your pump and fuel level wires through there. Then run a hose into your beer cooler, out those plugs, into the cab and into your mouth.

Perfect design for evading the 'open container' law.

judging by the number of views and the quality of the responses so far the holes/plugs don't have any purpose at all
now the only thing I need to figure out is whether the box will rust around the plastic plugs if I put a spray in over top of them...

The plugs in mine have little tie down bars in them for hooking stuff too. I sprayed over them.

They're just drains. I had my Line-X sprayed right over the top of them...they're never coming out now!
