Now that looks cool, reduces tailgate weight to 4-7 pounds for $25, anyone tried one of these?

there was a thread on TDR a while ago when they first came out and only cost $45... Lots of people bought them and love them.

Just bought one off eBay from a guy 30 miles away. Hopefully he'll get it in the mail today so I can get it tomorrow and install it over the weekend. The video looks like they work really well.

Yes, please let us know. My only shipping choice was ground, and with me leaving for Pittsburgh tomorrow, I won't get it on until Monday at the earliest. I think it's a great idea. I can't tell you how many times I have had my hands full and have to just pop the latch and have it bang down.

Also, since I now have a camera in my tailgate, this will keep it from being jarred loose or breaking it since it will fall gently to the ground like a little snowflake!

Well hopefully I ordered early enough yesterday that they dropped it in the mail the same day. If they did I should get it today. The mail here usually arrives in about 1-1/2 to 2 hours from now. If it's not here today I won't get it 'till Tuesday (wasn't that a band?).

Well, it didn't show up today. I'll post pics and stuff on Tuesday unless someone else beats me to it.

Okay fella, got the EZ Down installed and it works awesone. Only took about 15 minutes to do. What slowed me down was the bolt that holds the factory cable to the tailgate. You're supposed to remove the bolt, ditch a special washer that's there from the factory, the replace the bolt. The only problem is there is a poece of tin pressed onto the bolt holding that washer in place. No biggie but I wasn't ready for it. I ended up prying the ends of the tin up then just yanked it off with a pair of plyers. Took about 5 minutes of fussing. Other than that install was a breeze. The only other issue is the printed instructions don't show where to put the heat shrink and doesn't even mention the little cushion thingy included. According to the video you just slip the cusion over the cable then shrink the wrap over the cushion to keep it from falling off. Easy enough.

Anyway, the thing works fantastic and is worth the $55. One time my 3-yr old open up the gate while leaning against it from the inside and tumble out thumping the ground pretty hard. This would have prevented that.

Has anyone tried the torsion bar thing?
Slower going down, easier going up too...

I had the torsion bar on my 04. It works as designed. It really doesn't slow down the drop, but it does reduce the impact. If you let the tailgate go, it will almost bounce up to the closed position. it definitely makes the tailgate feel lighter. It feels like you are lifting a gallon of milk. You can close the tailgate with one hand no problem.

The install does require drilling a hole in the bottom of the tailgate. it is very easy to install.
