Streamlight Polystinger
Streamlight Polystinger
Hey guys I just bought a Streamlight Polystinger DS LED flashlight and WOW !!! what a cool, flashlight. Someone told me this the light police officers are using these days. Anyway it is rechargable and comes with a DC charging cradle I would like to mount in my 06 QQ. The Streamlight instructions say it should be connected to an unfused power source and protected by a 2 amp fuse. The only convienant ,out of the way, easy access place I have found to mount it is to the track under the drivers seat. The charger has a cigarette adapter but I was thinkin abot cutting it off and running it to the fuse box under the hood. Any Ideas ? Thanx Phil PS I will be running a 4awg wire to power a couple amps under pass seat at the same time so any routing tips would be appreciated.
That is an excellent flashlight. Instead of cutting off the "plug", I just mounted a "double" female plug under the seat. That way you have another accessory port if needed. I used a small junction box under the seat to keep things neat. I ran my wire under the door sill molding, and brought it up next to the seat mount. Had to make a small slit in the carpet next to the seat bracket to provide better access. And of course protected the wire with "split loom".
Hope that gives you another idea.

I did the same. Didn't cut the cord. Just added a triple female recepticle.
As for your amp power, just plan ahead and route it away from where you will route your signal cables. Insurance against induced noise. If you plan to put the amp under the passenger seat, try to take the wire through the firewall on that side, behind the kick panel and under the door sill. Should be able to go under the carpet then and through a small slit. Don't forget to fuse that power wire as close to the battery as you can.
