Steering Problem

A couple of thousand miles ago my steering got pretty tight on the first 1/8 of a turn or so on either side of center. Also after you drove for a few hours you could here something in the steering like it was dry when turning the wheel a little while stopped.

Any way I kept putting it off and finally took it in yesterday for oil change and have them check it out. Don't know what they found for sure but they ordered up a new steering box and pump to put on it. Its nothing life threatening but anoying because the steering won't center itself coming out of a corner either.

So if anyone has some thing like this going on you might want to have it checked out.

Re:Steering Problem

Have just had the steering box on my truck replaced. It was tight from day one, the steering wheel was not on center and the tires were starting to feather. When the dealer checked it and jacked up the front wheels he could not turn the front wheels by hand. (At the tire, not the steering wheel) Even disconnected the damper. After the steering box change the front wheels could be turned by hand easily.
