Some general questions
After driving the same Gen-1 diesel for 17 years without any issues I just got my hands on an incredible 06 Gen-3 diesel and have several questions.
1. Someone here on the site mentioned having their cloth seat covers replaced with leather at the dealer. Can they do the same with with my 06 ? (Have no issues but know cloth won't last)
2. I obtained a copy of the build sheet from the dealer but some of the descriptions of the codes are vague (ex. ADB - protection group). Is there anywhere I can get more details about the codes ?
3. The differential is described as 11.5 which I assume is still a Dana. Is that a 60, 70, or 80 series ? (Also assume the front ones are still 44's)
4. What type posi is being used ? (cone, clutch, locking, other)

11.5
I think ADB is the transfer case protection shield.
The 9.25 front and 11.5 rear are both AAM axles. The rear is the same as GM. They can come with or without anti-spin and usually have 3.73 or 4.10 ratios, although some have been replaced with 3.42.

Send an email to customerassist@chrysler.com. Give them your VIN number and they will send you a build sheet spelled out without all those codes.

1. Yes you make replace with leather if your heart desires. Be ready to shell out some good coin for them. Most are just as cheesey, just look in the salvage yards if on a budget.
2. Go here (http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/year.pdf) to look up the build sheet information or any other spec that you might need. Bookmark the page for future reference.
3. The Third Gen Axles are AAM (American Axle Manufacture) not Dana for the 25/3500 and 45/5500 Trucks. The front is a 9.5 ring and the back is a 11.5 ring gear. Most trucks were equipped with a 3.73 ratio but some had 4.11 from the factory. Early model truck with out the HO Cummins Engine had 3.54 gears ratios.
4. The LSD is a limit slip clutch differential that is a gear type. Which does not require friction additive. Read this post for mor inforation.(https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...r-t266453.html)
