Smittybilt Nerf Bars
Smittybilt Nerf Bars
Just installed new nerf bars following the instructions exactly, i.e. remove old bolt securing body, install bracket/spacer and use new 110 mm bolt. The mounting bolts have a large rubber "washer" that helps isolate vibration from the body, which I left intact. The problem is that when I setp on the nerf bars (6'4" 265 lbs), the bar "bends" down, probably due to the rubber "washer". Did anyone remove the rubber washer when installing their bars? Or did you just horque down the torque on the bolt and take all flex out of the mounting?
Thanks,
JPH

I put spacer washers b/w the truck mount and the nerfbar to lower the bar about 3/4" and it tightened down good and strong. This did eliminate the rubber "washer" but I've had no problems with mine I only weigh 215 so mine wouldn't flex as much anyway though.
