Silencer Ring?

What is it? And how do you take it out? Just trying to figure out why people take theirs out.

There's a couple threads that describe it in detail if you search. Doesn't boost performance at all, but it makes your turbo sound really good (especially with an aftermarket intake) Basically pull your intake tube off the turbo and the ring is held in the turbo with a big snap ring. You can work the snap ring out with a couple small screwdrivers, or any other method that works for you... then the silencer ring will pretty much fall out.

People take it out because it silences the whistle of the turbo. If youre into that kinda thing!

So how does it sound on the highway? does it ever get on your nerves? If you take it out, how hard is it to put back in?

I took mine out and it is only a small amount louder. I also do not have an aftermarket intake......YET

Easy to put back in also. Just don't tear it up taking it out.

Easy to take out, easy to put back in. I haven't noticed any power increase, but it does sound cool at high rpms when you use the clutch. Sometimes if you're trying to have a conversation it can get annoying, but I haven't had mine in for over a year.
