If they are great but hard to believe.

That said, actually these are not "my" original wheels....these came off of an 03. Same wheels except these weren't "polished". These were "satin". Since I was going to have them sandblasted I gave my original wheels to a friend of mine in trade for his 03 wheels. That helped him out by upgrading to "polished" and it allowed me to keep rolling on my originals while the 03 Forged wheels were at the powdercoater/sandblaster.

In a nutshell, Dodge calls them "forged", FWIW.

..
Yeah I believe the Forged wheels are part of the "Big Horn" (or whatever your geographic region calls it) package. If you dont have that package - they are cast I believe...

CTD03....Thanks for the compliments. I like black wheels on different color trucks too. Particularly gray and darker blue. Not sure on your color blue, but hopefully somebody can photoshop your pic above with black wheels.

NRiver....Doing good thanks! You? I do love those H2 wheels. Really they are the only wheel I do like, other than the OE wheels. I have been considering getting a set and getting them PC black.

Mine had the "Lone Star" package. But the forged wheels are the same. What made the difference was that they were "polished". The wheels my friend swapped with me for mine looked identical...except for the finish. Since they were being sandblasted there was no need and blasting the polished finish that he wanted.

Not sure on the "Chrome Clad" wheels though.

03 and all others that are "satin" are cast wheels.
All "polished" wheels are forged. Forging gives a better finish for polishing.

Thanks for the correction Brian and sorry for any confusion I started.

Does Forging them make them stronger than cast? Or is it just for the "finish"? Thanks.

Blacking out the trucks seems to be very regionalized. Texas by and far had the most trucks rolling blacked out. Went to Utah, lots of Dodges Chromed out. Always liked the Chrome, but some of the Blacked out ones look good. Probably the best look is the blacked out black trucks...

Snoyes, not having traveled to far from home lately (unfortunately)....I didn't realize it was a such regional thing.

In my case, I just picked up ideas here and there on this very web board. I got the idea about the wheels from CQuestad and Moterhead and another guy whose name escapes me now, none of whom have I met personally. I really give alot of credit to CQuestad in alot of different ways/ideas although I did go in some different directions. And of course NRiver.

My goal was to "create" if you will, a tough, stealthy look that would stand out from the other trucks without screaming "look at me". It is hard to sit back and look at my own truck unbiasedly, so I don't know if I truely accomplished that goal. And nobody wants to tell somebody the truth and say "your truck sux". But I do get occasional compliments.

Everybody has different tastes and the "bling" look is just not something I wanted. But I can still look at somebody else's truck with alot of Chrome and still appreciate it for it's beauty and the owner's work.

Perhaps im just rambling here....but I don't recall getting any of the ideas for my truck from other Texans.

Forged does make them stronger. Think about a forged aluminum piston is stronger then a cast piston.

I can definately appreciate a blacked out look, just noting how rolling in Texas for a few years they definately were more trucks with the blacked out look. Was enough black accessorized trucks rolling around that it caught my attention, and as I've travelled around the states I look for it. Kind of neat if you ask me, ever area has that different look....

Monkey nobody can decide for you. You just have to pull ideas from different trucks (or 1 if you want) and decide what you want to do with yours. The good thing is, you can always change it again if your tastes change. I have considered making some changes to mine too, but right now im to busy working on the performance side...(currently saving for a turbo).

I paid $45 a wheel to have mine sandblasted and powdercoated at a local PC shop a couple of years ago. I have been extremely happy with the work they did......they still look like new.

Thanks for the compliment!
