Sentury Key
Dealership should have them in stock, you can program it so you don't have to pay them 1/2 hour labor as long as you have 2 keys now. I'm guessing around $40 to $60, not sure if there are any aftermarket brand keys for them.

Go on Ebay, and try SENTRY Key. I have bought them on there twice now, and they are EXACTLY the same (Ramshead Logo and all). They run about $19 each!!!!!!!! The trick is everyone should buy at least one before they lose one of the originals, as you need two to program in additional keys. (needless to say, you need to have the replacement key ground to match yours first).
Once the new ones are programmed in, they work the same as the OEM, and can be used to program in future replacement keys. Your manual should tell you how to do it, and it worked perfectly the first time I tried it.
I lost a key here two monthes ago, and I would have been up the creek w/o a paddle, but instead, I just grabbed a spare out of the drawer and ordered another. When I bought my truck the salesman told me "Don't lose one or it is $85 each"......Think I might just go buy a nother couple!
I bought my extra Sentry keys on eBay from a seller named "chapstick4", but there are lots of other people selling these keys.
HaulinBut has the right idea about being prepared in case you lose a key. I believe that you can have up to 4 programed sentry keys maximum, which is the number I have, plus one non-sentry key hidden on the vehicle in case I accidently lock my sentry key inside. Even if someone finds the hidden key they wouldn't be able to start the truck with it (and, the alarm would go off as soon as they opened the driver's door).
The same goes for the keyless entry fobs. You can also buy those on ebay and program them yourself using the instructions in the owner's manual.

WHAT HE SAYS... I also got one from Ebay and a local key shop cut it for $3.50. Total cost about $20. Don't bother trying to get Home Depot/WalMart to cut it they refuse
... go to a small keyshop

Thanks.....ya saved me from having ot look up the seller. Chapstick4 is the guy I bought from, and the local hardware store REFUSED to take a cent for cutting the keys! Such a Deal!!!!!
AND I really like your idea of hiding a NON-sentry key somewhere OUTSIDE the vehicle for the door, but if it is because you locked your Sentry key inside, wouldn't the theif then just use IT to rip your truck?
Lastly, I am quite sure that on the 04.5, you are allowed a total of 6 programmed sentry keys. Cool system.
I have a "06" with the keyless entry sentry key all in one. (same unit) Has anyone bought a "06" sentry key only and programed it with the keyless entry sentry combos?.....It is going to cost $20.00 to find out! I'll seal it up in a baggie and hide it somewhere....The plain blank key makes alot of noise when you use it!
The 06 keys program the same way as the older keys, the keyless buttons program when you program the key. As long as you get the correct key you can replace the all in one key with a plain gray sentry key.

.Anyhow, I already did the spare black key in a magnetic box for incase I or the dog lock mine in by accident. The third Sentury key is just so one day I don't have to pay the dealer to program one if I loose one of the two that came with the truck. I ordered it from someone named Rags-to-riches. If it works fine, I'll post for anyone else who wants to know.
As far as the key fob goes, I think I'll wait on that. The only ones I see have a part number that ends with AC. Mine ends with AF. Seems you only need one remote to program another.
I looked into buying a spare sentry key thru ebay for my '05. But I was told by a couple different ebay sellers that the keys they sell aren't compatible with '05's. It's been more than 6 months though, so maybe they are available now. But Id suggest you check before you buy.
Problem programing new key?!
I seem to be having a problem programing a 3rd key. I followed the instructions in the owners manual but I can't seem to get to the flashing security light. Is there a secret you guys know about that isn't in the owners manual? First key turn on for at least 3sec no more than 15 sec......remove use second key turn on wait 10 secs for flashing security light.....it never does!

I just got my truck last night, an 06 with the door/alarm controls as part of the key.
Just searched Ebay, didn't se any listed, you're saying they are available though?
Can someone post the link to Chapstick 4's listings?
Thanks
Will
