Saw something yesterday that made me grin

I saw a GMC 2500 Duramax (crew cab long bed) pulling a a triple axle flat bed trailer with a T-Bird (one of the older model "big" birds) on the trailer. I didn't pay much attention to the hitch, but it wasn't a gooseneck or fiver type.

I don't know how much weight transfered to the tongue of that trailer, but that GMC was squatting like it was sitting on its axle stops. There was a toolbox in the bed, but nothing else. I would have to think that the triple axles would be carrying a pretty good proportion of the weight of that car. I had read that the GM suspension favored comfort for unloaded driving, but this looked ridiculous to me.

I'm glad I bought the Dodge.

I agree.
I bought a truck to tow and haul, not to ride like a car. Even so, I think the ride of my truck w/tires at 75psi is excellent. I put 3/4ton in the back of my 3/4ton truck and it squats 2". I think that is the way it should be.

i see a chevy duramax driving around town a lot with just a 16 or 18 ft bumper pull with a bob cat on it, nothing big... nothing in the bed and that things squats like no other... i have noticed this about the chevy/GMC trucks... they don't like weight

Hey I am goign to argue the other way. Having had both and pulled the same trailers with both, my Dodge squatted more by about an inch with the 5th wheel attached and about the same with my box trailer. With that said I was really suprised the first time I put the 5th wheel on the truck. I expected it to squat like I just droped a load of gravel in it. Maby I got lucky, who cares

Ive been glad I bought a dodge from Day 1... between the POS IFS suspension on the chevy, and the POS 6.0 motors in the ford, the only way to go was CTD

Dont know about his, but our bobcat is around 8000lbs with a 3000lbs trailer. Depending on how the bobcat is positioned on the trailer, i can lift the rear of my truck with it, keep the truck at the stock height, or pop the tires with so much tongue weight. its all dependent on where i put the weight. A bobcat can make a truck squat quite a bit, just depends on where the weight is

I'm with you on that. I know I made the right choice.

Here on the coast were I live on the long weekends we get tons of CTD, Powerstrokes and Duramaxs with there toy hauler loaded up and out of the 3 the Dodges are the only ones not squatting. It's pretty ridiculous to see a 3/4 or 1 ton Ford/GM truck with a toy hauler squatting so bad that it looks like the front end is going to lift off of the ground.

We put 1100lbs of John Deere weights in the back of our truck, only went down 1 inch. But it is a Doooley, so maybe that has something to do with it.

That would embarris me to have a full sized pickup squat with one car. I pulled many full sized cars with my Ranger 4.0. Yep, heavy for it, but no real big squat.
