Rig wrecked, looking for replacement advise
Greetings all, I was recently rear ended by an 18 wheeler, and the truck is a total loss...
I am now looking for a replacement. How much would I expect to pay for an 01-04 3500 srw, crew/xtra cab, automatic. 8' bed, Larimie, with sub 150k on the clock ?

depends on the part of the country... around here, trucks like mine are bringing better prices than gold right now...
been thinking of selling mine here lately, wanting a new Laramine Longhorn Power Wagon...

Price
Insurance is at $19500, but I am still fighting with them, as I am finding that my truck is bringing between 22 and 25k...
I am also looking at some 94-97 Ford F350 crew cab, 4x4. long bed, srw trucks with the 7.3 IDI turbo, and early powerstrokes... Had a similar truck before my Dodge, and it was a great truck...

I would not get into a second gen with the VP44...
03's and early 04's will get you the best mileage, 04.5 and up will respond better to power adders.
A 7.3 ford was a decent truck/motor combo, but they're getting old to be buying used.
I would expand my horizons on where you are looking for a truck. Be willing to travel a little to get the right truck. The years you are looking for are starting to get fewer and farther between for decent trucks.

I am willing to travel for a nice truck... I have been searching as far west as Texas/Colorado... I am finding quite a few Fords, but most are dually's.. Found a couple of mid 90's with the Centurion conversions... Rust seems to be the issue with those... I am even willing to look at 92/93 Dodge 350's with the 12v Cummins... Every once and a while I will see really nice ones come up for sale... Simple and old school...
not sure if im suppose to do this but in oklahoma here ive seen a few on craigslist (http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/2727677682.html ) just saw this today.
Sorry to hear about your truck. For an '01-'04 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW with the specs you want (crew or extra cab, automatic, 8' bed, Laramie, under 150k miles), you might expect to pay around $12,000 to $20,000, depending on the condition and mileage. Prices can vary, especially if it’s been well-maintained or has upgrades.
To find a good deal, online auction sites can be helpful. You can also check local classified sites or truck-specific forums for listings.
Good luck with your search!
