I'm pretty confident this dealer isn't going to knock themselves out to please me on this.

It sounds like you've answered your own question, dump this truck (after it has enough miles on it they have to sell it as a dealer truck) This is a big item you'll be living with for a long time, get what you want not what you have pushed on you!!

Yes it will be a pain to have to wait but hopefully the problems have been worked out & you can get the truck from another dealer faster or there may be one on the way or already on the lot of another dealer, or wait another month & get the 600 engine!!.

All The dealers bends over backward to to make you happy during the sale & it goes downhill from there, if your sale went like this imagine how the service will be!!
You'll end up going to another dealer for service anyhow.
This dealer has shown you what you can expect when you bring your truck back, it'll be a bad deal!!
Find a better dealer!!

make sure you write DC & tell them of the treatment this dealer gave you, it can hurt thier 5 star status (if they have it or keep them from getting it.

Bottom line, get what you wanted!!

walk away and re-order and you can get the new HO 600 with 325 hp. But that would be another 3 month wait.

I'm sure there are lots of the current HOs around that are now discounted even more with the new one on the way. You're spending thousands for a new truck, get the stuff you want.

I feel for you, truely I do. The purchase of a new vehicle is suppose to be joyious and pleasent. I allways order my trucks and I love the wait, the anticipation. It's great, it is like streching the new car feeling out over 3-4 months. Your order is a disaster, and is only getting worse. I can not believe you are asking what you should do. Almost makes me think which is worse? the whole order thing or you? But I suppose you might be in a bit of shock, as most might be.Igf you take that truck or any other truck from that dealer your NUTS, plain and simple. Hell they sell Dodge everywhere, and the Cummins isn't anything special or new. Maybe just look at it like a sign, from who? who cares! Just heed their warning and drop the whole thing, the messed up truck, order, dealer, just leave it behind you. Go to any other dealer and order you a 2004.5 and get the truck you should have gotten in the begining. Don't settle for anything less and this way you can be thankfull in knowing you got what you wanted and you got the new "600".

Thanks for all the replies... looks like the opinions are overwhelmingly in favor of firing this dealer and trying again somewhere else.

They are going to have a rough time selling this truck, but they brought it on themselves. Hard to imagine they can stay in business with such levels of incompetence and indifference.

Thanks,
Jim

Cool

If it were me, I'd walk away from that truck, and start checking other dealerships. I'll bet you can find something on the lot which you really like, and you can drive it away and won't have to wait several more months.

I will never order another vehicle that involves shipping through Baltimore.

Thanks!

If you are in DE, and you end up canning this order, you might want to order from Cook Motorcars. I give them an A+ for my purchase. They'll sell for at LEAST $500 under invoice on new orders. But, that will come through Balt (mine did). If you go to TX, La Grange is a good dealership out there.

Jim,

Cook is where I bought mine from also. Hassle free ordering. I told them what I wanted and they ordered on a hand shake.

The bright side of ordering a vehicle to TX is that you will save $500 right off the back becuase of the regional discount Dodge gives to dealers on the other side of the Mississippi.

BTW, a dealer can still make money even selling at $1600 below invoice. The reason is because of other incentives that might be going on. End of year seems to be the best time to buy as all the dealers are trying to hit a yearly quota to get some extra cash back from the manufacturer.

Man, I hurt for you! Me being myself, I would reccomend that you DROP that bonehead and take your business elsewhere. There is no price he could give you for a truck thaat isn't what you want and I think you forever wonder why you paid that much of your hard earned cash for a truck that isn't what you wanted. If they give you that much grief buying it, just imagine the #@&**$%??? you will probably recieve trying to get any kind of service done. Just my humble opinion.

All of the stuff you have been through in this relatively short period of time will not make up for the long time you expect to own and enjoy this truck. You will never be happy knowing it will never be exactly what you ordered for whatever reason and that it had several repairs before you even got it.

I won't recommend what to do but I'll tell you what I would do. I would have someone follow me back to the lot, drive that thing on the lot, make sure someone on the lot receives it, and say see you later puke (insert your own word). This is a major investment you are making and you would expect it to be right. If you were in the hospital and the doctor left a few stitches out, would you say that is OK and live with it? I think NOT.

Sorry to sound negative but this kind of stuff burns me up.
Send LukeS a PM and see what he can do for you.

Joel

Walk away....but first.....

Make sure you get your deposit money back. Keep records of how you were treated and where/how the dealer messed up so you can take them to court if they refuse to give your deposit money back. Make copies of what you ordered and if you can, make a copy of that window sticker so you can show that what was delivered wasn't what you ordered.

Also, how many miles were on the truck when you first saw it? Kinda sounds like someone was joy-riding in your new truck before you got it (if there was anything over about 10 miles).

Easy decision. First and foremost, you are the customer. The dealer can not make you do anything you don't want to do even though it appears that they are trying to force you into accepting this truck.

It's an EASY decision. Demand your deposit money back and find another dealer. Simple as that. Don't think about it any more.

Man, I sure do not envy you with such a lousy dealer. Your experience really sucks big time. Run, don't walk away from this dealer and also write to DC. May I suggest that you give Sydna a call at La Grange Dodge, (888-891-JEEP) tell her I sent you and also tell her the whole story. I am sure she could help you to either find another truck or place a new order for you.
Please keep us posted on the final outcome. Hopefully in the not too distant future we will be hearing from yet another VERY happy Dodge diesel driver.
