Ready to move up

I have looked at a 05 today and took it out for a drive. Liked what I felt and saw. From what I can see on your post that the newer models seem to be put together right and with plenty of omph! The one that I drove was a 3500 DRW, auto, 615, silver. Nice price too. My 99 is up for sale now.

Good luck from my experience it will be much easier to find the truck you want than to sell your truck.

Ya know, probably any day of the week they (DC, Ford, GM) can teak the numbers to their liking to claim the "highest in it's class". It's all about marketing. Uh, I mean, BS!

615

My fault on the 615. Just wishful thinking. The local dealer has made me a very good offer on trade with the amount of what he has allowed me. If I don't sell it then I will trade it. I will remove all of the extras that are on it as I saved everything that was removed and can be installed back, except for the 13" SBC. I was test driving a 3500 DRW, 4x4, Quad, 48re, and nicely equiped. My truck (with 59,000 miles on it) and $18,000 difference. Sticker was $43,980 on it.

i have really enjoyed mine!

fuel mileage is not as good as my 03 but the auto sure is nice!

wouldn't trade the 05 back for the 03.

$ 37,293.00

I was quoted for the following truck this price of $ 37,293. 2005, 3500, Quad, DRW, 4X4, Laramie, adjustable pedals, block heater, fog lamps, trailer tow group, sport apearance pkg, rear window defrost, 6 speed, anti spin, power trailer tow mirrors, flat fold storage area in back, auto dimming rear view, hood protection sheild, CTD, silver. MSRP was $ 44,675.00. What do you think? I like it and I would probably add the exhaust brake also. They have several like this to choose from. They are having a year end reduction sale and have beaten any other dealer by quiet a few dollars.

Rain Man,

I just got my latest edition of Land Line magazine, put out by Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. If you join, you are able to get $1.00 below invoice on Dodge/Chrysler vehicles. It's $45 year, might be worth a look see. You can join over the phone, and they will hook you up. And you will be helping us O/Ops out.

Here is their website, and you don't need to be a driver persae, www.OOIDA.com

The price Rainman got was ~ 83% of sticker. Invoice is ~ 88-89%. 83% is right up there, from what I've seen posted over the past year. A few have done better, but the incentives were better then they are now. Last spring you could get $2500 back and 0% for 48 months and in the fall of 03, I think it was $4500 cash back.

Since it's near the end of the month and during the slow time of the year, and a refresh coming in 06 (?) I think I'd offer them 80% of sticker. But then again, maybe I'm cheap. (As you know, it won't hurt to ask.)

I just found it in the magazine so I thought I would throw it out there. I know with mine there were a bunch of incentives. I walked out at $28,000, truck stickered at $42,000, 03 leftover.

Test Drive.

I am going to the dealer to talk and test drive the truck on Tuesday. I am going to see how we might trade around. One dealer has offered me $22,000 for my truck with all of the extras removed on trade which is a good start. I really don't care what the offer is on mine as much as where we are in between. This is the negotiating area. If I can get the truck that I want, and keep the extras to sell later, for a good difference then it is the best deal for me as it is hard to sell in the area that I live in. I will beat the dealer up and negotiate the best deal for me or walk away and keep my 99.

You are right RainMan, just remember the numbers thrown about for a trad in are meaningless. The only number that counts is the difference between your trade and the new truck you want.

The first deal you mentioned, with $18,000 difference seems to be pretty good to me. Numbers are more realistic.

Good luck with your horse tradin.
