Railyard QC?????
Re:Railyard QC?????
My zone rep told me today that the trucks that fail will not be sold. Weather they will be repainted and sold at auction, or crushed he did not say. I have seen it go either way. Basically he said something to the affect, that if they shipped us a truck with the problem, the dam paint might just fall off when we power wash

Re:Railyard QC?????
Oh, btw. He said that for those that fail, and if the customer wants to reorder, he has a special code that we are supposed to mark the re-order with that will move it to the front of the order bank. I will get the code and pass it along for those of you who are unfortunet to not get your truck
Re:Railyard QC?????
Well, I canceled my order today and got my $2K deposit back. Even though my truck is not on their "list" of effected vins they are now telling me it needs to be inspected anyway. They wouldn't give me a firm date for inspection or delivery so I insisted on getting my $$$ back immediately. Keep in mind this truck has been sitting a three hour drive away for FOUR weeks! I just can't stand the uncertainty and waiting any longer. Plus, with this paint screw-up the HD truck inventories are getting pretty thin around here so it's act soon or get left out of much in the way of choices.<br><br>The good news is I found another dealer and he found me a truck on the computer and arranged a dealer trade to get it. Upgraded to a Laramie package, same color with ho/48re with a few more bells and whistles than the original one. It's going to cost more but it has more equipment and $500 over invoice doesn't sound bad at this point.<br><br>What a wonderful experience with this dealer too. After talking to one of the sales reps and explaining my situation I get a phone call. It's the OWNER calling back and he personally spent at least 3 hours on the phone with me yesterday and today working to find the perfect truck. I can't say enough positive things about UNDERWOOD Dodge in Wooster Ohio.

Re:Railyard QC?????
cool 8) you will enjoy the truck. Nice when the owner of a dealership is down to earth and will talk to the "common" folks. I was working with a snalesman when I bought my truck with his " oh we can't give you eight dollars off the list that is below our cost" crap, when I asked to speak to the owner. He was really cool, I told him I was in the auto trade for years so he cut me a good deal no bulls*it. He has since sold two more Cummins and one van because of the people I sent him. He also busted his butt when the rear axle siezed on it to get me parts to fix it. Again congrats.
Re:Railyard QC?????
Pinzgauer, the list is totally meaningless at this point. Obviously DC has decided to "test" every single truck built from X to Y dates. My ordered truck was not on the list, yet they insist on inspecting it.
Thanks Spots, I was amazed to be dealing with the owner of the dealership. Heck, I bought two vehicles in the same night at the first dealer and the sales manager didn't even come out from behind the "tower" to introduce himself. Quite a difference from one place to another.

Re:Railyard QC?????
Jeff, there really IS a difference in the dealerships, and what they will do for you - just like any other industry I guess. Congrats on finding a good dealership, and a nice truck. You will really enjoy it, and you'll be glad you changed dealerships as well. My truck was made in Mexico during the dates in question, has a VIN in ther range specified, but was delivered before they realized they had a problem (2/27), however, I have washed and waxed it without any problem so I'm not worried about mine. You will love your new truck - I do mine.
Re:Railyard QC?????
I will be doing pretty much the same thing as Jeff. Will finalize at the dealer today hopefully. From what I hear about 1/3 of the vehicles have been failing, so that combined with the uncertainty of when the test will happen or what will be done after, has made me think its time to buy off the lot.<br><br>This is such poor communication from DC I can't believe it! I guess they have more customers than they need. The dealer had been really helpful throughout though. They had less information than I did, thanks to this site.
Re:Railyard QC?????
My dealer put me in a new car and said to do whatever we normally would do except tow (it is an Interped) untill either my truck was delivered or we found another acceptable truck to substitute. So I think I have been delt with more than fairly (the car is at no charge)
Re:Railyard QC?????
All you guys that have sold orders in the system should hang on and don't do anything drastic. DC is under A LOT of pressure from dealers to compenstate customers in some way for the delays. You may get a better deal than u signed up for.
Re:Railyard QC?????
I just gave my dealer the go ahead to pick one up off of a lot a couple of hundred miles away after waiting nearly 4 weeks for my truck thats held in a railyard. He had been on to DC and they still would not commit to a date to test. There was no offer of anything to make it more acceptable either. Not even the special financing that is available on almost everything except the heavy trucks. Seems that DC does not care much for individual customers. >
