How does one remove the console from the headliner?

Tried to find some screws or an access panel to some, but to no avail.

I want to install a switch, but I don't want to just go and pull - afraid of breaking a clip or worse.

A quick response(s) would be appreciated.

im pretty sure with my 04 i need to take off the a pillars to get it down.

 

Your in luck. I just pulled mine off yesterday (to put in cab lights). You need to pop the clear light covers off (carefully pry off), then inside there are two torx screws inside. Take those out. The console is just held in by clips on the front part (closest to the windshield) and just pulled it down.
