BigRedMegaCab 07-05-2008 09:30 AM

i heard last year was the last but i never know what to believe anymore

i now dont believe anything i dont see and only half of what i do see lol

Patriot2500 07-05-2008 09:41 AM

I can't imagine that they would. Seems that most of the trucks on here are Mega's....

XLR8R 07-05-2008 10:19 AM

I think the Megas are here to stay.

mega2006 07-05-2008 11:35 AM

2009 is the last year of the Mega's for the Heavy Duty's. As many of you know, Dodge introduced an all-new true crew cab for the new 2009 Ram 1500's, and they will probably follow suite with the Heavy Duty's in 2010.

Just my .02

Ram Daddy 07-05-2008 11:38 AM

Yep..I agree...

The new "crew cab" will , no doubt , replace the "mega cab" as soon as 2010.

XLR8R 07-05-2008 11:43 AM

I thought that was a rose by any other name?

Won't the Crew Cab still have 4 manly doors like the Mega?

quadman20 07-05-2008 02:16 PM

Yeh with less room behind the rear seat. Be interested in looking at the 09 to see how much room you actually get

madhat 07-05-2008 02:28 PM

They stopped making mega's in 1500's for the 09 model year.

Highway 4x4 07-05-2008 03:07 PM

I hred they stopped the mega due to no long bed for it. That lost the mega a large share of the market.

Jeff in TD 07-05-2008 04:38 PM

Yeah. I'd have a mega-long bed if they made one.

Several people here have had the frame stretched to build a mega-long, but with the price of the conversion on top of the price of the truck...

Ram Daddy 07-05-2008 04:38 PM

Funny thing is....everytime someone shows one of the longbed conversions , one of the first posts is...[director] WOW how do you park THAT thing [coffee], it`s SOOO long you can`t drive it without wrecking something[laugh]

..and I don`t believe that`s the reason they stopped the 1500 Mega,or they would have dropped the 2500/3500 at the same time. I think it was a bad seller , and the `09 re-design was coming out soon anyway.

I hrd they are releaseing a full size crew cab like the other guys and the mega's just going to be gone in the wind as of 2010. However the question know is will the QC disappear as well? I think it will, what use would you have for it if you have a full size crew cab, to me it seems it would be more cost efficient to have one line doing crew cabs, not one doing mega's and one doing QC.

laramie5.9 07-05-2008 05:44 PM

I heard mega cab and the quad cab both are gone for just a crew cab like the other guys. Less choice yes but as a business point it would be easier only two cabs to build in stead of three less equipment to maintain and operate.

2010 HD Ram spy shots: http://www.leftlanenews.com/dodge-ra...html#more-7879

looks to me like they are trying to keep a low profile by putting the canopy on the truck making it look like there is a mega cab offered. however that is clearly a crew cab (bigger than a quad cab but not as big as a mega cab) and the canopy over the back of the cab looks just like a cover, not like there is actual cab space back there. i think the mega and quad are both gone, replaced by a true crew cab. I, for one, will be happy with this. this truck here looks good; not a BIG difference from the current body style but, aside from the obvious cab change, small changes that will make a good looking and hopefully equally performing truck.
