The smaller your axles are the less weight it can carry and the odds that it will break from just the torque from the motor increases. Myself, I'll take a larger axle anyday.

BTW with gears, did you know that reverse cut gears in the front axle are stronger, assuming we're talking the same size gears? In the rear you don't want reverse cut.

Back to the warranty issue and oil changes, I keep my log up and I list the additional things I do such as changing the rear axle lube. It's all DYI maintentance. When I had to take it in for warranty work 6 weeks ago I don't think they even checked it. I was in because it suddenly started smoking constantly heavy grayish smoke and very rich diesel smell odor (read the story here http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...ighlight=smoke )

Other than the typical idiot remarks by the dealer tech, my truck was repaired without my maintentance being questioned and I had no receipts for my oil and so forth.

I just ordered up some Amsoil 15W40 HDD & Marine oil and will run 15,000 mile intervals and 7500 mile Stratapore filter changes using oil sampling to check on things. I ran 20,000 mile changes without bypass filtration and had great results on the last truck

Sounds like a good plan Vaughn. As soon as I rack up 15k on delvac 1300, I'm going to the amsoil 15w40 HDD/Marine as well. Not sure if I'm doing 10k changes of oil and filter or 15k with 7500 filter changes like you yet. Sampling will tell the story, however a lubrication specialist(CLS) friend of mine told me 15-22k have been appropriate intervals on this new clean burning HPCR engine. I guess we'll wait and see. Once May rolls around, I will be moving back up north to Cleveland and will switch to the wonderous and pricey, Delvac 1 5w-40, the best stuff on earth! ;D Till then it's the slightly cheaper amsoil, which will work just as well in FL.
