New front springs on my 2wd???

Went to replace the original 186K mi. 2003 OEM shocks, as I finally got tired of the bouncy ride. Anyways, even when going to gas magnum Monroe's the front still dips more than I like, especially over big rolling bumps but handles the sharp/uneven/jarring bumps fine now. Leading me to suspect the springs are shot. Go into the dealer and they have like 6 different springs listed for my application and because there is no tag left, we were unable to determine which ones i needed. I was under the impression that all springs were the same. Anyways, I would at least like a slightly higher rate than before. Is there any way to find out what mine came with from factory? I'm aware of the numbering system as it relates to spring rate, but need a starting point at least.

Depending on the price of new springs, you may want to check out the Daystar leveling kit spring bushings. I did the 2.5" which leveled the truck 1/2" less than rear. You may also need new rubber bump stops, as well as new sway bar end links.

I thought it was read from the VIN.

May want to post the specifics of your truck so another can check his for compatibility:

For example,

Mine is an 04.0 (305/555) build date 8/03

QC--LB-- NV5600--2WD

Can't get under mine today (and it's raining, first time in months).

I also get down to bumpstops too soon (and those need replacement on mine as one is gone, the other is chewed. I don't get off pavement and the truck gets 100k plus from tires, meaning springs are a bit soft, IMO).

.

All my bushings and bumps are amazingly in great shape!!! Have a slight leak in the steering rack, that's about it.

I ordered new springs... a month or so ago, and i've completely forgotten who i ordered them through.. it was online, and they are made to be stiffer than stock, and give about a 1/2" increase in ride hight... probably jsut from being stiffer.
i havent installed them yet, cuz i am going to replave the tir rod ends and uppper and lower ball joints all at the same time.. no piont in tearing everything arpart 3-4 tim

Forgot to add that other information needed is on the door placard:

4,750-lbs FAWR

for example

(Also as found in DODGE TOWING GUIDE).

And, at nine years, I figure it's time to replace old rubber, appearance "decent" or not.

I can't decide about springs, yet, but the anti-roll bar will be replaced with a 1.5" HELWIG piece and urethane bushings/endlinks installed. This will "up" the front spring rate, so I'll wait on springs until the ride is evaluated.

I might upgrade the bumpstops to Aircell pieces, but need to make a phone call or two on that subject (I keep truck at 7,950-lbs -- 1100-lbs above the empty weight, and also tow a trailer that puts me up to GVWR).

Also, BILSTEIN shock absorbers are a better choice than the Monroe, IMO.
