I am looking at a 05 quad cab 1 ton, has 172000 on it, and is bone stock I think. What should I look for and wear and tear, engine wise, and all that stuff. I know mostly 12v stuff, because that is what I have. I could use some help here. What kind of horse power and torque do these things have stock, and if I do get it what kind of chip should I look at to put in it. Thanks.

 

I'm kind of new to the CTD, but I can tell you the 05 has 325hp and 610 lb/ft torque

 

We bought an 05 last summer and its been good. only had about 43k miles on it though. you can check engine hrs. theres a thread floating around here that explains how to do it. ( i think higher 30's/ hr is average)
id ask how often the fuel filter was changed, and whats all been done to it.
ive been changing oil on this one about every 35/3700 miles(55/6000 Kms)
make sure theres no ticks or nocks, ands ee if it idles smooth.
