Need some help with touch up paint...
Hello,
I have a paint chip on the top of my bed. Chipped all the way to the metal. So I went to the dealer and got some touch up paint. They had to order it after reading my VIN number. After all the hassle the paint doesn't match the truck!!!!
The color is bright red. Dupli-Color sells touch up kits in most auto part stores. However I do not know the paint code.
Anyone have suggestions on how to get the paint to match???

(and I don't think the color is stored in the VIN anyway?)
Especially a nice new truck like yours.
Now if it was a 1990, maybe they'd have to order.
There should be a paint code somewhere on your vehicle.
I'm thinking a sticker under the hood, but I could be wrong.
Someone will jump in with where to look exactly (I hope)
Papa: Look on the sticker in the glove compartment. Or get a print out of your VIP Summary Report from the dealer.
Do not know from your note if red is your color or Deep Molten red. Code for Deep Molten Red is PR8A and that is what they order it to match.

hey guys, i go around dealerships touching up cars and trucks before people buy them. You can usally ask a service writer if somebody comes around doing touch-up or you can go to your local walmart or auto store and get a bottle of touch up. The paint code is located in the driver door jam on the id tag towards the bottom. If you say its bright red more then likely its Chrysler's poppy flame red (PR4).
I had to get some paint for the lense covers on my tail lights and I got the code off the door, like BigBlkCummin said. I called Checker(Schuck's/Kragen) and they had it in stock at one of their larger stores in Glendale. Duplicolor brand. Match perfectly.
Thanks AaronT!!!! Your the man!
I found the paint code in the glove box like you said. It is PR4! BigBlkCummin you were right!!!!
Thanks guys. I am going to buy a bottle of duplicolor and take this other junk back to the dealer!
