The one thing you can try, is every time the dealer reflashes your ecm. They are supposed to put a sticker on the cross member over the radiator with the reflash number. You mite want to lift the hood and see if it is there.

The fact that your motor is still breaking in, and the ultra low miles make your mileage improvement look break in related to me. IMHO

As promised, here is the TSB information...

Here's the sticker that appeared under my hood.

Note that they refer to the reflashed component as the "PCM", not the "ECM". The service technician used "PCM" when we spoke about it but I just brushed it aside as a slip of his tongue. Now, though, I'm wondering if there really is a separate "Power Control Module" like he said.

As you can see, the TSB is 18-05-06. Anyone have the text associated with this TSB?

Thanks for finding that. What does "MIL" stand for? Presumably "M. I. Light", like "Check Engine Light", but what does the MI mean?

Also, nothing on that list of symptoms seems like it would affect MPG. I suspect the firmware rolls up all prior firmware upgrades, so there's more included that just the list this TSB mentions.

Thanks for that explanation. Is "MIL" another name for the "Check Engine Light", or is it an indicator on their little handheld computer they plug into the harness?

Could i just take my truck into my local dealership and ask them to reflash it or do you have to have a reason for them to reflash it?? I went through this whole reflashing thing with my last ford, but it was always in an attempt to fix the POS. Mileage here has only been about 13 once since new (now 3k on it) and starts funny once warm, heard the reflash may help with that issue as well??

I'll bet if you complain of a few engine issues, they'll reflash it by default in the hopes it will "improve things". Reflash costs nothing but a little time, so it's an easy thing for the dealer to try.
