We will be in the market for a new one pretty soon. From what I have gathered reading onhere, I think I will stay away from the 600, and get a 555.

But i was sitting here thinking, what is a 555? Is it the equivalent of 2004 SO, or a 3003 H.O.?

When I go to a dealership, how do i request one? I have a feeling that if I ask to look at a 555, they will look at me like im crazy.


BTW, we will be getting a 3500 DRW, 4door, 2wd, 6speed.

 

The 555 ho engine was only produced between 2003 and 2004.5. you may still find 2004 555 trucks on the lot but I suspect supplies are running low....

 

look for a 2004 model, not the 2004.5.. if you are not sure when you see one on a lot, pop the hood and look at the intercooler end cores, and the plastic valve cover dataplate. it will either say 305hp [for the 555] or 325hp [for the 600] also, look for extra sensors going into the turbo if you can see down there easially
