Mega Cab or not..????
Mega Cab or not..????
Hi all...I have been lurking here for a while reading and searching post..
I just sold my 1999 Ram 1500 gas burner and am ready to get my first diesel..
Am looking at a couple of duallys...Both have the 5.9....One with the Mega cab and the other with quad cab...
I just cant decide which I realy want or need...
My question is how many of you bought the quad cab and later wished you had bought the Mega cab..???

I like the full size be more than an extra big back seat (it is rarely used). The other thing is the dually fenders on the MegaCab don't do a thing for me.
Really it is what you need more... interior or bed size.

I got the Mega Cab. I had an '04 Chev extended cab, an '06 Ford Crew Cab, now I got a mega cab I won't good back. The room is unbelievable. If anyone has to ride in the back seat of your truck, or you ever have carry lots of equipment (computers etc) that you dont want in the box of the truck, the MegaCab is the way to go.
I dont really haul much in the bed of my truck, so I went with the megacab. It is nice to have my 6'5" 350# father in law sitting in the back seat with my seat all the way back. PLENTY OF ROOM FOR EVERYONE!!!!! It is all a matter of preference. You just have to weigh the pros and cons of each
PS: the dog loves having the room to roam when the seats are folded down

Last fall I bought my first diesel, first pickup for that matter, and I ended up with the 3500 Mega SRW. I love the space in the interior. I can easily fit 2 800 series dog kennels with the seats folded down. During hunting season all of the gear can be loaded and secured in the cab, leaving the bed for deer/moose etc. It was a little challenging getting turned around in the bush due to the 21+ feet, but it's manageable. I was also a little worried about getting high centered, but as long as you line up your approach, no problems. Currently the in-laws are visiting from Alberta and there's plenty of room to truck around five adults without any complaints. I'd recommend the Mega without hesitation.

The next truck I buy will be a Mega Dually, I love them. While I dont regret my Quad/long, I would enjoy rowin gears with some extra room in the back. I really like the fenders on them also, reminds me of the first gen duallys

Like said before, it all depends on what YOU need to do with the truck. I have always had a short bed and now there are plenty of good slider hitches if you ever think about pulling a fifth wheel. I really wanted the room on interior so the Mega fit my needs perfect. I have also had 4 adults with many shopping bags in the cab along with a 42" flat screen TV still in the box behind the back seat and everybody still had room to be comfortable.
if you get the mega you can join the mega losers club! who really wants to do that?
if you have kids or people that will ride int he rear then the mega would be a wise investment...if this gets posted on the mega dorks club page i will deny it to the end!

jealousy will get you nowhere!
I choose the Mega Cab because of the large interior space. The fold-down floor has been a great asset. You can haul in the bed, haul in the cab, seat 5 adults comfortably and put your junk under and behind the seat. Recenty I hauled 1K of grain inside the cab because of rain. I tow 5th wheel, GN and bumper pull trailers with NO problems. Haul lots of lumber in the bed or put it on the GN flatbed. I made a trip to Minnesota recently, just dropped the rear seat, threw in a mattress, can easily sleep in there too. My dogs love the space as well. Had 4 Chihuahuas, 3 Border Collies and a Jack Russell - all in the back seat area folded down.
My last 4-door was a Ford with an 8' bed. When I put 5 adults in, had to always keep the front seats a little forward so the guys in the back coul have leg room, the quad cab seems to be the same amount of room. My Grandkids were a pain in the BACK when they were sitting behind me, always kicking the back of my seat. No place BUT the bed to haul grain, etc so if the weather was bad I could not always get stuff hauled.
Matter of choice and how you will use your truck. Either are GREAT trucks.
