A guy on the other site says they'll tack a grand onto the M-cab and most likely pull a "Toyota " or in other words hold 'em back to keep demand up.He's a salesrep so he has inside poop on 'em.Mike

it shows DC isn't changing the look of the truck to the Butt ugly Dakota box

What happens to the bed? is it that much shorter?

I DON'T SIT IN THE BACK. I'll keep my 04

i'm with you sweeper,

i usually trade trucks every year or two but not anymore. i can't stand the look of the new truck. but i also can't make myself buy one of the butt-ugly chevy's. the fords are okay looking but they are looking dated. they also don't have the cummins. looks like i will be keeping this truck for a long while.

Will they be providing an in between cab version?

I dont have the full four doors myself and actually prefer it like that. If all I can get is the mega cab I may have some issues come truck shopping time..

I understand that they're ADDING the Mega to the line up not replacing the extended cab (quadcab).
Now Dodge will have the biggest standard, extended and crew cabs offered on the market.

I've seen the mega cab and it's a nice truck. The family travels to the track with me and this will fit the bill just perfect. I was very disappointed with the DR when it came out. I was really hoping they would have a bigger back seat. The DR only has four more inches than the BE body so I bought my 01 over an 03. I'm not a fan of the looks of the DR either with that big flat ugly grille, but at least with the mega cab having the cab room will outweigh the fact that I may not like how it looks (which I think it looks better than the current DR).

I'm with you , i think the 01's are a lot nicer looking truck than the new ones. I have had passing thoughts about trading up but i look the looks of mine better and i like the sound of mine better. besides that , it has taken 100,000 miles to get it to run right and i do not want to get sucked into dealing with the chrysler dealer service mess again.
I need service now and it goes directly to Cummins, they know how to service them and do it right the first time for a lot less money. They even call a few days after working on them to make sure everything is ok.
and on top of that i have the ATS tranny set up and the new stock trucks do not hold a candle to this setup

The Mega Cab sure is temping, especially in '07 with the debut of the 6spd auto behind the Cummins (or will it be a Mercedes Benz diesel?).

It will be a Cummins as we know.

The Cummins has been one of the main reasons most diesel owners buy the Dodge truck versus the others.

I was just at a farm show were they had the new mega cab and talked to the factory rep he said they will run from 3000 to 4000 more than the quadcab. Also he said that they will have a cummins in 07 but it will be a 7.2 not a 5.9. The reason being to meet level 2 emissions regulations they had to bump up the C.I. to get the same HP and torgue that the 06's have. They had a new mega cab at the show loaded with leather and he said that the sticker was right at 49,000. Comparable to a Ford and Chevy equally equiped. If I remember right I think he said that the megacab is on a quad cab long box frame and that the box is actually a hair longer than our quadcab shortboxs not 100% on that one any way check out this link for some good pics and write up.

They take the shortbed box and put it on the QC longbed frame and then stretch the cab to fill the space.
