Looking to update

So i now drive an 01 (note signature). Now I am positive that somewhere it has been asked and answered over and over. I do not get the chance to be on here as often and long as i need to find answers. Looking into a 2005 3500 crew cab 6 speed, 2wd, cummins (of course). In general, what does everyone think about the 2005 model year?? What are the +/-?? Truck will be daily driver and be used for mild to mdoerate pulling. Thanks ahead of time for any info everyone

I know of no problems with the 05's that arn't common with other model years prevous to 05. The 06's have a bunch of issues. I know a couple of friends that pull large fifth wheels with their 05's. All are NV5600's (6sp) and have 4:10 gears.

Towing, with a 16,000lb trailer driven easy, should net you about 12mpg. I was looking for an 05 when I found the 06 I now have.

I think it will be a good truck. If the transmission feels a little notchi going into third, thats normal for the 5600. You can't power shift that thing. You row threw the gears. My previous truck had the 5600, torn down at 185,000 to look for a bad bearing. No such thing found. It was perfect for the most part. 3rd Gear synchro had some wear. Pics in my gallery. Great tranny.
