Leather seat install
What is the best way to take the plastic post ***** off the headrest?
I was thinking of using a small flathead or hook to pull the metal flange away from the post, then sliding it off. Are these re-useable?
Do you have to cut the threads away from the cloth headrest, or does the seam just pull apart?
Thanks again for all the help,
DK

Does she have any sisters??
Heh Dan, can your wife talk to mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mine thinks I lost it. She can't stand UPS.
As far as your question. YES, there is a trick. MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE AREAS OFF REAL GOOD, I MEAN REAL GOOD. You want to make sure that the 3M tape adheres on good. Take at least 15 - 20 minutes on each application to clean the area I forgot what I bought @ Autozone, but it is to remove all that Armor All, Factory resin or anything. The most important peice is the long ones that go on the drivers and passanger doors. Make sure you clean the heck out of it. It's long and got kind of a contoured edge to it. Did I say make sure you clean them really, REALLY GOOD!
Oh yeah..
The plastic post come off easy, take the head rest off and give a good tug. They'll come off. Also, your Lumbar ****, I kind shaved a 2 popsicle sticks down and wedged them on the two side and gently pulled off the ****. Get them in (or something that won't scratch) between the **** and the plastic base and youll see.
OK, ? 4 U. Noticed your wheels. Do they extend past the fender wells much?

They had a set of Chrome Fooze 17"x9" wheels that they put on the truck, and they stuck out maybe .5" past the fender, I was going to go with these but for some reason the wheels wouldn't go over the rear axle, they were able to mount the fronts, but not the rears.

Is it close to this?

That actually was a link to the charcoal, which is closer to what I got. The dark graphite is darker, almost black.

Did you have to buy one of those star wrenches to do the install? Did you have to break the seat down in order to get the rear covers off?
Sorry for all the questions, but thanks.

EKU,
Put them on this weekend so you can add your input for the install.
Alot of guys with these seats now, and alot of different upgrades on the individual trucks. Who's going to have the nicest ride???

Got my leather seat covers from alileather. I got the dark graphite with puddy (gray) inserts. I finished installing the front buckets and the bottom of the center seat. So far it's been pretty easy. I'm going to tackle the back seat tomorrow after work. Thanks for all your advise nonford, it really made it easier. Any issues with the backseat I should be aware of? I'm still not sure if I'm going to takle the backrest on the front center seat, it does look tricky. I know a guy who does upholstry work and may just pay him to tackle that last little bit. BTW my wife is out of town and has the digital camera, so I'll have to wait until the weekend to post pictures.
I did my rear seats today, plan on tackling the front tomorrow. The rear seats are a piece of cake, nothing to it really. If you want to avoid cutting the factory covers, you will need a star wrench to seperate the back from the seat. I plan on starting the front seats tomorrow. I will let everyone know.
Have either of you done a headrest yet?
Still waiting on my seats, but the wood paneling came. The directions specifically state "do not install in temp. under 70*." Yesterday barely nudged 70*, and we are in for snow/rain over the next 5 days so I didn't want to risk a bad bond on the tape.
