Just bought a truck with stock tires

its a 06 megacab with 5.9 and auto.

Would like to step up a bit, not going offroad or towing at the moment .

What do you suggest? would like the mpg if it will make a difference too.

Thanks, bob

If your meaning step up a bit is going larger look at the Nitto Dura Grappler in 285/70/17.

I ended up with the Michelin A/T2 in the stock size. The ride and traction are great. I was wanting to go with the 285/70R17's, but the ones that I wanted weren't available.

I was going to go with some 285/70, but I didn't want the 3750# load capacity of the 126 rated Nitto and Toyo offerings. I figured the extra weight rating would make the tires ride stiffer, which I did not want. The only four all terrain tread tires available in the stock 121 E load rating in 285/70 are the BFG AT KO, Bridgestone Revo 2 and 695, and Firestone Destination AT. I didn't want to run the BFG's on this truck, and the Bridgestone/Firestone have been unavailable since April. I got to a point where I was sick of waiting (my stock tires were getting unsafe), so I purchased the Michelin A/T2 in the stock size.
