Infinity Radios. Are they junk?
Are Chrysler Infinity radios junk? I've got an '04 Ram and my wife drives an 03 Liberty. Both have the Infinity sound system. The radio in my Ram was replaced once under warranty and once on my dime. Wife's has been replaced three times!!! I buy 'em on ebay. Fortunately they are easy to swap out. About five minutes.
Are their any aftermarket radios that fit well, look as good as OEM, have provision for steering wheel controls and will LAST?

What the heck are you guys doin to them ?? :-) Mine is still the original and as of last week, the truck has over 5,000 hours on it. I never turn the radio off. This is the ONLY stereo that I have left stock because it sounds good enough.
Used the heck out of mine... it is always on and I've had no problems in 107,000 miles. I'm not thrilled with the quality of the sound. I think it stinks to say this is the "premium" option. Even my friends Isuzu Axiom stock system sound WAY better. But my system has given me no troubles
Sound quality isn't the issue, at least for me. I've got a tin ear from almost 50 years of ridin' loud Harleys.
When these radios have failed for us, they just stop playing anything except for once when the cd player went bad. Usually still have the display, just no sound. This last time, the one in the Jeep, no display, no nothing. She got back from working a big festival in Michigan (stage manager). Said it quit on the trip back. It sat for three days without running. When she tried to start it, it was stone cold dead. Pulled the battery thinking it was bad. Not the case. Charged it for 36 hours & that pulled it right back up. The "sleep" mode in the radio must have gone away along with all the functions. I did a parasitic load test on the car, both with and without the radio installed. I was getting about 1 amp with the radio in and less than 50 ma with it pulled out.

My 03 Infinity radio/cd changer loses audio after 45min-1hour of playing a cd. It used to do it after only 30 mins but I pulled it out, redid the heat sink compound on the drivers, and cut some additional cooling holes in the case. If you switch to radio immediately after the sound dies with a cd, it plays fine, and without issue.
