Ignition switch problem
I was starting to think my truck was possessed but thw=e ignition switch makes more sense. When I shut off the truck and remove the key the HVAC motor will run if its not turned off. Does anyone know if it can be a simple fix or will I have to change the switch.
Thanks

I just changed the switch on my 07, the hvac fan control was not working. Was 15 minutes, 3 T20 torx on the bottom of the column, 3 torx to get the tilt mechanism out of the way and 2 torx holding the switch in. Fixed my hvac problem...after the dealer "fixed" it by replacing the temp control cluster at $300+!
No, the lock cylinder has a rod that goes into the electrical ignition switch. The switch is on the left side of the column as you are looking at the wheel. It was $28.80 at Maxwell Dodge in Austin, Tx yesterday, it took a day to get it after I ordered it. After looking at the box I think the part number is 1 - 56049838AC. I had to have the key in the ignition and move it to line up, it will only fit in one way.
There is a small hole on the bottom of the key lock tumbler. Put the key in the ign, turn the ign to on and while pushing a small drill bit into the hole pull on the key and pull on the key on the lock will pop right out.
I found it a bit easier to work on it with key lock tumbler out.
If you do a search you'll see a thread from last week about this same subject. I did an abbreviated writeup in it on how to change the switch.
