Identifying Sentry Keys

Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but for my 2006 keys, when I opened them up, I found a chip labeled PCF7941. I was able to find this page that basically describes it as a combo transponder and remote keyless entry bundled in one chip. I would assume that this means that the truck is equipped with the Sentry Key system.

Site: http://esemiconductor.com/applicatio...rke/index.html

Anyone else know for sure what IDs the keys as Sentry Keys? Mine are Black w/ remote keyless entry on the key.

you have sentry system. the newer trucks ( i believe) comes with it. The old style was a gray key (sentry) and black key (non sentry)

That's the way that I understand it as well. Newer trucks with the key and remote all in one have the sentry system.

That is correct, and BTW, pray you don't lose one. Also, does yours have a little screw to open it or is it just pry open with a dime. As long it just prys(no screw) it is the updated and shouldn't break internally on you. Enjoy your truck.
