ideling up???

Last night I drove my truck to work, the temp was around 27* and I had let it warm up like I usually do. After I reached work, which is 37 miles, I let the truck idle as I usually do. Upon doing this approx. about a minute after it was ideling it ideled up to 1000 rpm?! I depressed my accelerator and it went back to 750 rpm. Does anyone know why this does this or is that normal? I am fairly new to diesels and fairly new to this forum. I haven't posted many messages because there is a wealth info. on here especially using the search button. Thanks in advance!

FYI it is a normal thing for them to idle up when the ECM thinks it's needed in cold weather.
