I really need help with front end

I could really use some advice or suggestions on what could be loose in my front end. I have a leveling kit, carli track bar and new shocks. I have something loose somewhere or worn out but can't figure it out. It is mostly felt over breaking bumps at lower speeds. The dealer says that my ball joints are within dodge specd tollerences????? Ok, Then I wish they could tell me what it is. This has been like this for about 6 months, but can't take it anymore. I also have the upgraded steering. Any help would be appreciated.

How many miles are on your truck?? May need to adjust the steering box and look into getting a steering box brace. Made a huge differance on my truck with just the brace!! adjusted the steering box about 2 weeks ago for the first time, I've got 114,000 miles on all stock front end parts.... Got carlis track bar and ball joints, TRE's, and u joints, all I need is time to do the install!!!

Classic death wobble.

Set your caster to 5 degrees on each side, and those big tires are killing you. I hope you don't have the stock narrow wheel running those wide tires.

Replace your steering stabilizer.

Its not death wobble or did I ever have it happen. My truck has 64,000 miles on it. Getting u-joints put in tomorrow. Steering box adjustment may sound right, but I dont have any side to side movement at all. It feels like it could be in the steering shaft or something.

I think I may have what you have.

I've got a subtle knock that comes through the steering shaft in sections of road that really have no bumps. Mainly smaller expansion joints or tar snakes. There is also play at the steering box shaft/pitman arm (I can see slight movement when I muscle it). I have a leveling kit and upgraded steering (with new alignment). I considered it the ball joints but those are still good. I do not have bumpsteer anymore.

I'm eyeballing the steering box and/or steering wheel shaft for the problem. I'm wondering if a steering box stabilizer would help or if it'll be a different solution like adjusting steering box or replacing steering shaft.

Let us know how the box adjustment does.

Shorts,

Even if the Steering brace does not fix it, for 140 bucks, it is a good thing to have on your truck. I got the PSE Brace off ebay and I can say that it is quality. No reason to spend 250 bucks on a carli or BD that does the same thing.

I have the exact same thing going on with my truck as chopper bob. Upgraded steering, XRF ball joints, PCS steering brace, dual steering stablizer. Could it be the steering box needs adjustment?? It too is driving me crazy.

SECONDRATE, did you also feel it in your steering wheel before you changed your sway bar ends? It feels a little like if I had a bad shock. That light banging in the wheel...

I have the same thing with my truck. I narrowed my problem to the steering shaft. Ill eventually get the borgeson shaft from Geno's.

I had a similar sound and it turned out the driver side upper control arm bolt had vanished. Result lower control arm broke. Currently have a factory replacement lower arm in and new upper bolt.
Now awaiting a few more parts and the frontend will be Super upgraded, The list - factory steering upgrade, solid hub conversion, new u joints, Thuren Control Arms & Trackbar & steering stabilizer, dynatrac balljoints,PSC steering brace.

I replaced my balljoints, tie-rods, sway bar bushings and links, installed a dual steering stabilizer kit, steering box stabilizer, and shocks. Nothing affected my steering in a more positive way than installing new upper and lower control arms. The bushings in the stock ones were wore smmmoooth out and letting my axle more around a bit.

Man one thing is for sure, you can spend $1500+ on the front end and still have problems. All I need to do is replace my balljoints and u joints as well as hub bearings and every single thing onthe front end will have been replaced under the front end of my truck putting me over 2k$ on components.

I really hope it handles flawlessly by then but most likely it won't handle as good as the amount of $$ you put into these crappy front ends.

Also check

The universal joint in the stearing shaft (In cab at firewall). I had very light knock in steering that you could almost not feel or hear but was driving me nuts. Dealer looked at twice and made sure it was out of bumber to bumber warranty before finding and charging me to replace.

Replacing it fixed my issue though.
