how accurate is your over head console
Mine must be working right because its just like everybody else's. It gets way off when I hit the reset as I start down a hill and let off the pedal. Sometimes I get 99.9mpg. Too bad it goes back down fast as I start up the next hill.

Mines right on every time I hand calculate. You gotta leave it be. The longer it goes without a reset, the closer it will be. It measures mpg since last reset. The LAST RESET is what's getting you. If you hand calculate since last fillup, it will always be different, since your calculating something different.
Or do you caclualte you MPG based on fuel used and distance gone since you bought the truck (or the last time you hit RESET)?
If you reset at each fill up and do your math at every fill up if the thing did what it was sposed to the numbers should be the same, you cannot do the math at every fill up and compare to the overall on the overhead, it would be like comparing apples to oranges.
Mine is usually pretty close. It averages the last 600 miles or from the last reset. 600 miles is about what I get out of a tank so it's pretty close to a tank full even if I don't reset it.
The lieometer on mine has always been between two and three MPG off. Hand calc always lower. Smarty used to dial in my tires so that aint it. Even on past Dodges when I was DRW and stock tire size it those overheads where off too.
I get 19/21 depending on how I control my left foot. Still like a roll a little coal from time to time.

When you reset seems to have an effect on accuracy, at least for me. Mines shows only about 0.5 high if I turn on the key, reset, then start engine. Resetting while the engine is running throws it off more, and resetting while driving puts it 3 to 4 mpg high.
