Horn blasting, interior lights won't shut off...Help!

Horn blasting, interior lights won't shut off...Help!
This morning was the first time the temperature dipped below 20 degreesF. I went to start the truck (2006, Quad Cab, Automatic) and the horn blasted for about 40 seconds and then stopped. A straight blast, not the "on-off" sound it makes if a door is ajar and you put it into reverse.

Once the horn stopped I drove off, but the "door ajar" indicator and the "cargo Bed" light and dash indicator is on.

When I shut the truck down, the headlights on / keys left in the ignition buzzer stays on. No matter what I do with the headlight switch or ignition switch.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Two things come to mind that could help you.

With the key out of the ignition - Does the horn go off when you open the door to get out?

If so, get out, close the door, then lock and unlock the door with the key.

That should actually solve your problem if the factory alarm system is all confused, which by the way does happen occasionally.

Make sure you have turned the headlight switch to OFF, and also the cargo light to OFF. Check you fog light switch too, make sure they are all in the off position.

If you still have the problem, disconnect BOTH batteries, reconnect them in 1/2 hour, and see if you still have the problem.

Thanks...............I'll have to try the battery thing because the cargo light and the interior beeper will not shut off. They have been on for over 20 minutes now.

I just went outside to disconnect the batteries for the night, and everything is back to normal..................I hate electrical gremlins. But I really believe it has something to do with the outside air temperature........

I don't think it is the ambient temp. Sometimes the truck arms itself even though it was unlocked. Sounds like you got it figured out, if not, do as above and turn everything off and lock and unlock the truck using the key fob. Should fix it.

Di you hit your panic button on accident?

This truck is an ST ("Work Truck"), no power windows, no power locks, no alarm, no nuth'n..........

But once I drove the truck around and the interior came up to 70 degrees or so, and I parked for an couple hours, there where no issues upon re-starting.

But I left it overnight, temps back down into the teens, and when I went out this AM, same problems. It never did this until the temps got below freezing.

Same thing happened to me.
You can read my post in Help!

Im not sure what caused it. Key FOB was useless. Only thing that worked was starting it and putting it in gear. Then unhooked the cables for about 5 min. and back to normal. No codes or nothing. I now have my Smarty Jr. and if it happens again Im gonna see if it throws any codes.

Still curious as to what happened.

Good luck! [coffee]

Mine has a mind of it's own.

Same exact thing happens to me. 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 hemme. **** horn blares and cab lights won’t shut off. Remoe the jets and it just dings like I’ve left the headlights on. I hate this when it happens.
