Horn Beeps in Reverse ?
When backing up the horn will sound when I open the door for a better look, is this normal ? Truck in sig.

Yep...."safety" feature.[laugh]

Yes, it's normal. It's a safety feature. You can turn it off, but I'm not sure how to do it. I'd like to turn it off on my truck too. The instructions are probably in the manual . . .

As stated above it is a safety feature. As far as turning it off, No can do. The easiest way to keep it from doing it is buckle the seatbelt before backing up, this will keep it from honking.
|
No way to turn it off? Really? That sucks. With tinted windows I'm forced to open my door sometimes when backing down a dark boat ramp launching my duck hunting rig.
|
Yeah it does suck, I have dark tinted windows too and so I backup with door open frequently, just slip the seatbelt behind my back and buckle it and no more honking!

The solution?
I do think there is a very simple solution; Just add a relay that disables the horn whenever the reverse lights are on.
I specifically asked my dealer not to install this "safety" update on my truck. I suspect that once it is programmed it would be difficult or impossible to get a dealer to un-do... I can't even imagine what the wife would say if my air-horns went off every time I backed my trailer down the driveway ;-) |
