Stopped at the dealer the other day for a recall. The 2010s are amazing. Opened the door to a loaded Laramie that a guy was picking up that afternoon (I really wanted to sit in it!). Fit and finish was top-notch. Looked like a Mercedes inside. Leather, wood (faux wood but it looked good), heated seats and steering wheel. Beautiful truck. Definitely going to be my next one.

Got a friend at our yard with just over 900k on an 06. Talked with another with 850k on a 03.

Other than lots of auto trannies they have had good luck with there trucks. Anything with a bearing in it has been replaced in those trucks. Both are on there 2nd and 3rd set of injectors. They get 350-400k out of a set.

Mine is still a baby. 325k. Just put a set of bearings in my G56. Simple job, done it myself. The rest of the tranny looked brand new including the synchros. Run Lucas and synchromesh in it. Runs way cooler than ATF+4

Both of those guys bought there trucks new. I bought mine 2 years old with 20k miles on it.

All of us run ATF for fuel additive. Just ran 2 quarts thru mine today. Perked my injectors right back up!

Well been running Lucas, 1 qt of 75/90 and Synchromesh for about 200k miles. I bought the bearings from Standard Transmission in Ft.Worth. I talked to the G56 tech there. He backed up that I should run synchro mesh. My local tranny shop told me to run 20/50 back when we looked up what the synchros were made of.

To rebreak in my trans I used 2 qts of lucas synthetic engine oil additive. Then 5 qts of pennzoil synchromesh.

Will put 25k or so on this and switch to 2 quarts of synthetic Lucas and then 5 qts of royal purple synchro max.

I have been changing about every 75k.

I shimmed my bearing races a few thou so my trans feels pretty tight. In about 25k she should be broke back in so will switch to RP.

I had a machining like noise coming from the trans. The input bearing behind the input shaft had a galled spot on it. That bearing was about to fail. Its the smallest beaing in the trans. Prolly weakest too.

Still. I got 320k out of this trans and it only needed bearings. Will see how far she goes this go round. My synchros and gears looked new. Not a knick on em... Amazing

I hate amsoil so I dont use it. But you could use there mesh fluid also.

Here are some pics of when I built it. http://www.autoexpeditor.com/showthread.php?t=413

I would make a new thread here, but just dont have the time. Gotta turn out another 600 or so miles accross montana tomorrow. Have a 11500 5er bound for Vancouver, BC on my back.

Pretty sure you will be able to see the pics. But if you cant let me know, and I'll make a thread here as soon as I get a few mins.

The truck is a 2004, 3500 dually 2WD. He started pulling campers but has expanded to pulling almost everything. No major repairs except the tranny at around 300,000 and injectors at 750,000. It's been a great truck.
