High Idle Feature

Today I had an event with the high idle on the truck I have not seen before.

Last night the low got into the single digits which is not normal for this area. About 11:30 I went out to start the truck and take the wife shopping and as soon as the truck started up it went to 1000 RPM. Always in the past it has idled at 750 for 1-2 minutes before ramping up to 1000. The temp was about 20* at that time. The previous lows were about the same but it had not been down to the single digits before.

Is this normal for these trucks? In the 4 and a half years I have had this truck this is the first time this has happened and it is also the first time it has been exposed to temps this low.

You must not of had it plugged in. Usually, my truck will only do that not plugged in if it is around 0 degrees out. 20 degrees seems a little warm for it to jump to a 1000rpm that quick, but YEA, that is normal. Just tap the brake REAL quick once you fire the truck up.

I believe so. I have had it do that a few times on my truck also. However, you are right normally it idles at 750 for a bit before ramping up.

Thanks guys. I did not have it plugged in as I hadn't anticipated needing to go out but we had a major storm front moving in and wanted to make sure we were set for it.
